Make-Up Essentials: Classic Pin-Up Look

Thursday, July 9, 2015

Hello lovelies!!! I’m getting into working on a schedule for everyone and taking all your requests for videos and blogs. So, today I wanted to share my make-up essentials requested throughout the years. I will be listing them in the order I apply them.  Wishing you a lovely weekend and don’t forget to subscribe! xoxo
1. EYESHADOW PRIMER
I usually start my make-up routine  doing my eyes because if I get any fallout I can easily clean it up without ruining the foundation. First, I prime my eyelid with URBAN DECAY- PRIMER POTION EYESHADOW PRIMER (the original formula since is translucent) from my eyelid to brow bone, a pea size will do for each eye.

2. MATTE EYE SHADOW
Then I continue with my eye shadow and I like mattes for everyday and I feel like its more of a classic Pin-Up look. First, I apply the TOO FACED MATTE EYE SHADOW COLLECTION PALETTE in “Fashion” (last one on the left) from eyelid to brow bone and then continuing with “Chinchilla” (first one on second row) in the crease. Lastly, if you want a bit more depth or more of a “smoky” look apply “Coffee Bean” in the outer corners or as desired. Most importantly make sure to blend, blend, blend.

3. LIQUID EYE LINER
When applying liquid liner it can be a bit tricky so if you are just starting out make sure to give yourself plenty of time. I also suggest starting out with a pencil and graduating to liquid since it will give you a bit more control to practice. The KAT VON D – TATTOO LINER in TROOPER (black) to achieve the classic “cat-eye.”
5. LIQUID FOUNDATION & APPLICATOR
I love the KAT VON D – LOCK IT FOUNDATION (in “Light”) but there is a large array of shades that will match most skin tones. I place about a quarter size on the back of my hand since it gives it time to warm up or “bake” for easier application (however if you are working on someone else I suggest a make-up mixing plate which you can find online or most beauty supply stores). I mostly use it as concealer under my eyes and the center of my face. Note: This foundation is very concentrated so little goes a loooong way!

I blend the foundation with the BEAUTY BLENDER but to be honest when it first came out I was very hesitant since I had used other make-up sponges in the past but I have to say I LOVE this sponge. The way it works you wet it with lukewarm water and squeeze out the excess then grab a little foundation from the back of your hand (about a pea size). I like to start under my eyes and blend toward the center of the face to cover any discoloration. Use the Beauty Blender by tapping or as many say it #beattheface until you get your desired coverage.  Whatever is left over I apply it on my lips as a primer before lip color.

6. POWDER BRONZER

I know the trend at the moment is cream bronzers and highlighters but I still like to use power bronzers since they are less messy for me and quick to use when “on-the-go.” I have been using GUERLAIN POWDER BRONZER in BRUNETTE for years and it last forever (I use mine almost daily and I’ve had it for about 5 years!). I apply it in the hollow of the checks starting at the hairline and blending toward the center of the face and this as well is very pigmented so little goes a long way. I also apply a little to the forehead and chin to give a little warmth to the face. Note: If you are going for the classic Pin-Up look I would omit the bronzer.

7. POWDER BLUSH
With blush always pick tones that flatter your skin tone. I personally really like the MAKEUP FOREVER BLUSH in #10 it’s a very soft pink/coral color and with this one as well a little goes a long way. Apply a small amount to the apple of the check and blend toward the hairline.
9.  LIP LINER PENCIL
I love red! Not only is it my favorite color but it looks beautiful on everyone (the trick is to get the right undertone for you). NYX LIP LINER PENCEL in HOT RED is amazingly pigmented so no need to go over it multiple times to get that rich red color. I line and fill my lips for longer lasting color.

10. LIP STAIN
I tend to gravitate towards lip stains due to the fact that they don’t transfer and they are long wearing. The only thing is that they can be drying so make sure to hydrate your lips with lip balm before hand and wait a few minutes for it to absorb (I usually wear lip balm at night and wake up to soft hydrated lips). KAT VON D – EVERLASTING LIQUID LIPSTICK in UNDERAGE RED. I place it in the center of the lips and blend out, it dries vary quickly and it sets in seconds.

11. BROW PENCIL
I’m not extremely faithful with the products I use on my brows. I’ve used Anastasia Brow Wiz but at the moment I’m using the LAURA MERCIER EYEBROW PENCIL in BRUNETTE. I love the fact that the wax is infused in the color since it helps the little hairs stay put and saves me a step! The color is perfect especially for us dark hair gals.
12. MASCARA
Lastly, the BENEFIT “THEY’RE REAL” MASCARA. Not a fan of the plastic applicators on mascara wounds but the formula of this one makes it quite unique. It separates as you would expect from a plastic wound but is gives you amazing long full lashes. I rarely ever use false lashes not even for photo shoots because this mascara does the trick.

I hope you found this helpful and thank you for stopping by! Please let me know what your favorite products are??? Video below xoxo
